The EPA, with support from Teck American Inc., is offering lead soil sampling at developed residential properties in and around Northport (see the sampling area map at left).
How to request sampling
Please contact EPA to request sampling, to check if your property is within the sampling area, or to ask if your property has already been sampled for lead.
Property owners can submit sampling requests to:
Robert Tan, Project Manager
Email: Tan.Robert@epa.gov
Phone: 206-553-2580
What to expect
Sampling is voluntary and expected to begin in April 2025. EPA will offer sampling at properties currently used for residential purposes, and where the owner signs an agreement to provide access onto the property.
Soil samples will be sent to a laboratory for analysis and results will be shared with the property owner. If samples are above the screening level, EPA can discuss results and potential options with property owners. EPA will not take further action without the owner’s consent.
For detailed information on the lead soil sampling, and on the Upper Columbia River Lake Roosevelt Superfund Site, including site detail documents visit the WA State Department of Ecology’s UCR’s webpage here.
